Art of Espresso

Specialty coffee arrived in Young via a mobile cart in 1996, and by 2010 the operation had settled into a former Main Street building housing an espresso bar, a roastery and a certified barista school. The founders roast estate-grown organic beans on-site, with Rainforest Alliance and bird-friendly sourcing among their stated priorities, and the results have drawn recognition at the Royal Sydney Fine Food Show, where the roastery has taken gold. The barista training programme runs nationally, serving home enthusiasts and career changers alike, while wholesale accounts extend the reach well beyond the Hilltops. The espresso bar, now trading day to day as Hussy, pours across the week: brunch plates, house-made treats and carefully pulled shots for locals and travellers passing through the Cherry Capital. For a country town of Young's size, a roaster of this vintage and rigour is a genuine anchor of the regional coffee scene.
