Coffee for the Eyre Peninsula gets roasted weekly on Mortlock Terrace, where green beans sourced from Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Brazil are turned out in small batches. The roastery doubles as a coffee bar, open early on weekdays and Saturday mornings, and pairs its brews with pastries from Coffin Bay's L'Anse. Awards have followed: gold at the Golden Bean North America competition, plus silver and bronze at the Australian International Coffee Awards, unusual recognition for a roaster this far from a capital city. Visitors can watch the process on a guided tour, from raw to finished bean, and take home freshly roasted coffee along with brewing equipment for the home enthusiast. In a seafood town better known for oysters and tuna, it fills a real gap for specialty coffee.
