Manta Ray Coffee Roasters

A specialty roaster that took two years to find its room and settled in Nunawading, in Melbourne's east. The back third is production — two roasters, a cupping table, green-bean storage — and the front is a showroom built for drinking: an espresso bar pouring the Outsider and seasonal blends, a brew bar rotating through single-origin filters, and staff who'll talk recipes. The range runs to Cup of Excellence lots and named-producer micro-lots. The roasting floor is open to view, and they invite you in to watch them cup, pack and roast. Open seven days.
